Update - They're Going With Incompetence

In yesterday's post, I asked whether Van Jones was implying the administration was cowardly or incompetent in selecting him for the Green Jobs Czar position. Over at Politico, Ben Smith floats a trial balloon on behalf of the administration that they are going with incompetence, with mitigation.

A White House official told me yesterday that Van Jones “was not as thoroughly vetted as other administration officials,” and specified to the Times that Jones "did not go through the traditional vetting process for administration officials who must be confirmed by the Senate."
To his credit, Smith demolishes this line of reasoning with the rest of the article. If this line of reasoning flies under the radar, expect the administration to stick with it. If they take too much heat from their lefty base, expect them to tack and blame right wing media for making a conversation impossible, or some such claptrap.

  1. Whatever. There will be a steady stream of these people into the administration and the smaller stream of them exposed. It's the common theme in Obama's friends and the friends of his friends. Wright, Pfleger, Jones, Alinsky, ...

  2. I was listening to local Chicago talk radio during the election. Outside of Chicago, we only get bits and pieces.
