Programming Note

Light blogging until Sunday, as Mrs. Daddy and I visit some vineyards and enjoy the Central Coast of California. Also looking forward to a return visit to a monument to both ego and greatness, the Hearst Castle.

Programming Alert

I'm leaving town before I can here any bad news. No blogging for the next two days. In addition to the electoral victories; I got to watch some of Issa's epic smack down of Holder and it was reported that Romney raised more money than Obama last month. Additionally, Obama's message that the private sector is doing fine earned him rightful derision. It's a good time to get some R&R.

Local Talk Radio Changes

Sdrostra.com has the scoop here and here on changes coming to local talk radio station KOGO, AM 600. Some of the highlights:
  • The station will start simulcasting on FM 95.7 to draw a younger audience.
  • Chris Reed is leaving KOGO immediately. He is well respected, see some of the comments.
  • Roger Hedgecock is also leaving, but he is already building a nationally syndicated show.
  • Tea party favorite LaDona Harvey will move to the 2-6 pm slot. She has a younger audience than the other shows on KOGO now.
  • Rush Limbaugh stays in the 9-12 morning slot.
This news was posted yesterday, and I haven't seen any confirmation about Chris Reed leaving.

Programming Note

What's up with the Obama ads on The Liberator Today? I noticed them this morning after I updated a post. Some of my fellow SLOBs had said that they had received form letters (emails?) from Google saying that their blogs did not meet Google's standards for adverts. I decided to click the monetize function on blogger to see what would happen. I honestly didn't think I would qualify either, but somebody must be asleep at the switch at Gulagoogle, I'm in. I have seen a lot of chatter as to how Twitter, Facebook and Google attempt to steer a progressive narrative in subtle ways and often overtly. (See the disappearance of #attackwatch from Twitter trends as an example of social(ist) media influence.) So I wonder why my blog is "under the radar?"

I am not allowed to click the ads myself under the terms of my agreement with Google, so if you are a reader who has a sincere interest in those ads and clicks one of them, let me know what happens in the comments.

Programming Note

I am on business travel this week, so the blogging will be light. I managed to see the last part of the Republican Tea Party debate and will post on that briefly. Have to mention that CNN giving a microphone to Debbie What's-her-name Schultz, as if she were an impartial observer is about as neutral as having Jim Tressel comment on NFL enforcement of NCAAF violations.

Programming Note

We will be out at Joshua Tree tomorrow and through the weekend, so blogging, if any will be of the "re-heated" variety. No cell phone coverage, at least there wasn't last time, so this will be a blessed break from the on line world.

Light blogging today as we traveled to Orange County for a memorial service; a little more about that at my other blog.

Programming Note - Followers

I have added a follow this blog gadget to the right. If you are a regular reader of the blog, take a moment to click the follow link. It will help me see who is out there and let you keep track of my blog more easily if you use Google's tools like Google reader.

Programming Notes

My thanks go out to Dean for guest blogging while we vacationed in Australia. We had a great family vacation; our Australian relations are great hosts and truly loving and lovely people. Whatever my complaints might be about Australian politics, both Mrs. Daddy's family and others we met in our travels were and are great people.

I intend to return to daily blogging once I get caught up on politics. We had limited internet and little telly, except for some AFL, (go Magpies!) so I have really had a vacation from the U.S. and politics, not just my work.

The first thing I noted was some good news from the states of Virginia and Missouri on the Obamacare front that is showing the deep unpopularity of the bill and its serious constitutional flaws. Maybe the people are waking up to the growth of government as a threat to liberty. Missouri's challenge is especially clever because no matter the court outcome, we have a vote on the record that 70% of one state's electorate is troubled by the bill. My props to W.C. for covering the local doctors' protest against Obamacare.

It was more distressing to read Dean's post about a federal judge overturning Proposition 8, see below. I agree with Dean in its entirety. I would add that the next thing you will see is politically correct speech will seek a ban on the terms husband and wife. (Indeed, this happened briefly in San Diego.) I think that gays should be allowed to enter into personal relationships and contracts on an equal basis with straight couples. But I retain the right to not recognize those relationships as marriages. In a gay marriage, is there a husband or a wife? If not, why do I have to call it marriage. I have free speech rights as well.

If you are reading this, thanks for checking in regularly, I hope to reward you with some quality blogging.

Programming Note - Interview With Lorie Zapf

In all the hubbub running up to last week's primaries, I lost an email from Lorie Zapf agreeing to be interviewed. I will attempt to make contact for a weekend interview. Other than her mortgage issues, which I promise to cover, any other suggestions for questions are welcome.

I have a pretty full plate with work, school and home obligations this week, so blogging might be light.

Takin' a Break from Politics

I am taking a break from political blogging today, so mosey on over to BwD and enjoy a cold one.
