New Blog in the Family - But Not Political

I have kept this blog largely focused on politics. Mrs. Daddy, although she has strong political opinions, feels more comfortable giving "bachelor tips from a buxom blond" or providing romance advice to guys. Check out her advice at Tiger Lily's Island.

Blog Favorites

I usually don't announce changes to my favorite blogs listed at the right, but I wanted to recognize a local blogger that I have been keep reading more and more, W.C Varones. He is fully capable of explaining his own unique place in the blogosphere, but I appreciate the way he tracks financial issues and the fed in a way that I can understand.

Dean has the Tea Party ladies blushing with his effusive but well deserved praise for their efforts. I agree with Sarah B in the comments that the Tea Party is most effective as a leaderless movement. Although, she doesn't explicitly say so, I think that this lack of structure blunts the leftist, Alinsky tactic of personalizing and freezing the opposition, see rule 13. The MSM tried to do that with the Tea Party movement, but because it is genuinely grass roots, there is no one to go gunning for. Unfortunately, the current lesson in my leadership class advances the case that hierarchies are an inevitable outcome of the structures of the human mind. I think that this movement will eventually succumb, but not before doing a world of good.

Dean calls the likens his current status as a Republican as a sentence to a halfway house. I like the description as a former Libertarian, and current libertarian-Republican (it's all in the spelling).

Announcing B-Daddy's Other Blog

I started The Liberator Today to further the cause of freedom. That necessitates a politically oriented blog which is where I choose to keep the focus. But, I also want to write about management, religion, technology and culture; so I started another blog, B-Daddy's Other Blog, on Christmas day no less. If you are interested in any of that, please pay me a visit.

Blogging About Blogging...

...is usually the topic I like least. I just wanted to share that I've managed to turn blogging into a chore by bringing my Type A personality to the effort. I put a lot of pressure on myself to blog daily to try and increase site visits and generate comments, the "metrics" of blogging. But I am not a professional writer and only sporadically insightful, so this quickly turns into a big chore. Then I just give up for a while because I honestly have more important things to do, like watch college football. I am going to try to remember that this is supposed to be fun and just take the pressure off myself. My thanks to Dean and KT who throw me a lot of undeserved link love, so I will just count on their kindness to keep up my readership and hopefully post less frequently but with more quality.

Blog Shame

One of my favorite authors John Eldredge, also has a blog. Like me, he is a little erratic in posting regularly. I was looking over his site today and found this:

I know I’m not the faithful blogger. Life sweeps in, sweeps me away, and I forget. Then, I have SO many flippin stories to tell of so many ways God is working I don’t know which one to share. My brain overloads. Two (or three) weeks go by and blog shame begins to set in, making it even harder to blog.

I don't know if that is exactly my problem, but I do know that blogging seems to emotionally exhausting at times and I just let it slide. My thanks to Dean, 'Dawg and KT for encouraging me to get posting again. Dean suggested that the Freedom Coalition Agenda needs an environmental plank. I agree. I was thinking of staring with the following quote: "...the largest polluter in the United States is: the United States government." Wouldn't mind hearing what you think.
