Weekend Music Chill

Our condolences go out to Chicago for losing out on getting the Olympics in 2016. Dean has a great post on that, but I couldn't resist lifting this:

And for all that political risk? Booted in the very first round. Ouch. (Word around the campfire is that the IOC, an adjunct arm of the Star Wars cantina scene, felt they were being upstaged by the Obamas).
I was also looking forward to increased media scrutiny of the Windy City which might shed some light on Obama's unsavory associations. No such luck now.

Too pay a little tribute and also put up some music that Memom would actually like, here is Frankie, singing about the Windy City.

I know that video isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I'm staying with the Chicago theme this weekend. I really enjoyed the next band in my youth and thought they gave their namesake city a good name, so here is Chicago with 25 or 6 to 4. (I still don't know what they meant, and no longer care.)

  1. B-Daddy, thanks for the link. Cool story that I know you will appreciate: my first memory of Chicago's "25 or 6 to 4" was the El Dorado marching band.

Friday nights under the lights at Bradford Stadium. Those brilliant black and gold uniforms darting and crashing about on the field combined with the unfamiliar but strangely pleasant smell of cigarette smoke in the stands made for heady stuff for a 2nd-grader and pretty much defines why I am such a football junkie to this day.

    Thanks for the memories, bro.

  2. Dean, ya stole my thunder. Exactly my thoughts as I read and listened to the "Pep" music from the Golden Hawks marching band!

In the stands, Eddie Pappendick played electric guitar giving it a little more kick when we scored a touchdown!

  4. Thanks guys. Appreciate your comments. Also, I broke down and read 'Dawg's link explaining the title of the song.

  5. The title 25 or 6 to 4 refers to the time of day the song alludes to: 0335 to 0336. The words of the song refer to waiting for the break of day among other hints so the title, again, refers to the early hours of the morning after a tough night.
